I design glue.
My day usually involves making lab batches, testing samples, analyzing data, and communicating with team members. I collaborate with marketing and manufacturing to bring new products to market and support them after commercialization.
My technical experience is in moisture-cure polyurethanes and silylated polymers in filled systems for use as sealants and adhesives in residential construction and non-automotive transportation. I work for Bostik, Inc. in the Construction and Industrial Adhesives division. I went into materials science because I was fascinated by the way that process, properties, and structure interacted in any given material. I went into product development because I wanted those interactions to serve a defined purpose. I loved my job for many years but now want to take that fascination with interactions a step higher to the level of business functions where the technical side of product development is only one of the components being considered.
